UPDATE - Spill From Collection Facility Has Occurred

We have received several phone calls concerning the earlier press release regarding the domestic sewage spill and the concerns as to the safety of Conroe’s water system. The concerns stem from the required language used per the Texas Administrative Code “Persons using private drinking water supply wells located within ½-mile of the spill site or within the potentially affected area should use only water that has been distilled or boiled for at least one minute for all personal uses including drinking, cooking, bathing, and tooth brushing. Individuals with private water wells should have their well water tested and disinfected, if necessary, prior to discontinuing distillation or boiling.”

Provided is a map identifying the ½-mile radius area. If you have a private well within the area outlined you could potentially be affected. As for the City of Conroe’s public water system, it was not affected in any way by the incident therefore the City of Conroe has not issued a boiling water notice. The City’s staff has been and will be routinely monitoring the system for precautionary measures.
